Lisa Baris Schweppe, RHIT, CCS, CCDS
Lisa Baris Schweppe, RHIT, CCS, CCDS, has over 30 years’ experience within Health Information Management (HIM) specializing in clinical documentation improvement (CDI), coding audit and education, compliance, reimbursement methodologies, revenue cycle and quality improvement for hospitals. As an HIM professional, Ms. Baris Schweppe has authored numerous healthcare industry articles and blogs relevant to CDI, ICD-10 and Value-Based Quality topics.
During her career, Ms. Baris Schweppe has served on the Data Governance and Analytics and the Quality Initiatives and Secondary Data AHIMA Practice Councils. She was also a member of the task force which developed the AHIMA Practice Brief, HIM Functions in Quality and Patient Safety. Ms. Baris Schweppe remains actively involved with the American Health Information Management Association, including speaking at the AHIMA National Conference and serving as an at large Commissioner on the Commission for Certification for Health Informatics and Information Management (CCHIIM). She has also had the privilege of serving as a voluntary workgroup member for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) related to the development of Quality Indicators and conversion to ICD-10. Currently, Ms. Baris Schweppe is the Director of HIM for Nuance Communications, Inc., Clinical Documentation Improvement.
