Dasantila Sherifi, PhD, MBA, RHIA
Dasantila Sherifi (Tila), PhD, MBA, RHIA, is an assistant professor and HIM program director at Rutgers University School of Health Professions in New Jersey. Prior to joining Rutgers, she was a professor in the College of Health Sciences at DeVry University. Sherifi has over 16 years of experience in health information. In addition to teaching health information and health services management courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, her experiences include program management, curriculum development, student recruitment, data analysis at Holy Redeemer Hospital and Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, and research assistant at Merck & Co, Inc. She’s also served as professor of business and marketing, and director of Business Assistance Center at Shkodra University in Albania.
Sherifi has served as a volunteer in different roles with AHIMA, state component associations, and local HIM associations. Some of those roles include AHIMA’s HIM curricula workgroup member, PHIMA’s education committee chair and eHealth initiative liaison, and SePHIMA president, treasurer, and nominating committee chair.
Sherifi earned a PhD in health services from Walden University, a master’s in business administration from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, a bachelor’s degree in health information administration from Gwynedd-Mercy University in Pennsylvania, a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Tirana, Albania, and an advanced management training certificate from the University of Nebraska.
